Bio: Tennyson..Lee??

 

Kathy has played in several Musicals, from the classics of Roger and Hammerstain's Sound of Music to Westside Story. Kathy's voice is a mix belt, landing the coveted role of Mother Abbess, in the Sound of Music, which was a milestone experience. Kathy's repertoire also has lead her to understudy credits for other well-known American musicals: Porgy and Bess and Westside Story.

 

Kathy attended and completed training at Chabot College & Laney College Theatre Departments and Pan Theatre Improv Group in the East Bay before completing an undergraduate degree at San Francisco State University, focused in Radio and Television with a Media Performance emphasis. She still retained her roots in theater, minoring in Drama. While enrolled simultaneously at the California Culinary Academy, the vision began to take shape, not as a monotheistic career journey, producing and hosting her own Radio show at San Francisco State, Kathy developed and embraced her inner comedic and creating her unique brand, blossoming into 'Tennyson Lee.'

 

        "....I was an 80s baby growing up in Hayward, CA from 79'-88'. We lived on Lemon Tree Court, which is off the main road West Tennyson. My stage name 'Tennyson Lee' takes me back to my fond childhood memories, growing up in Hayward plus my mother's middle name 'Lee.' It was very hard to focus in elementary school, because I wanted to be outside and play all the time. Acting is playling..all the time. Acting is being a character all the time. Acting is my outlet to funnel my playful, serious, melodramatic, goofy energy." From the year 1988, it was a different, privilaged, world growing up in Orinda, CA.

 

Given premium opportunities to showcase her technical skills and voiceover talent, she worked closely with the Producer of The Greg and Fernando Morning Show and Music Director DJ Kid Loose at Energy 92.7 FM-a Clear Channel Radio Station; starring in local radio commercials. She also worked with the StarGate Network Production team in the Silicon Valley as a Talent and Staff Producer, working with premium events, hosting interviews for The Tuskgee Airmen West Event, Pete Escavedo Live Concert and Denise Williams Live recordings.

Kathy successfully booked a local Bay Area commercial campagin, for LiveScribe 3 SmartPen.

 

Kathy's bubbly personality extends beyond the stage and production sets. She enjoys singing Gospel, Pop, Rock, and Broadway genres. Weekly she continually serves as a Worship leader to her church. Various foreign languages and character voices she continues to study and perfect. COGIC Church Lady, So- Cal Girl, Old Southern Woman, British (Queen’s English), Jamaican are some of her favorite styles to imitate. Improvisation is one of her treasured skill set, utilizing personal experience to convey some of her familiar and non-familiar characters roles.

 

Having a strategic creative ability, that is designed focused, she has come full circle finding her true passion for the Arts: Acting, Writing, Producing, Singing, Songwriting, Food Design and Travel. Kathy is looking forward to working in the next Emmy Award series and in any feature film opposite Angela Bassett, Viola Davis, Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Colin Firth, Chris Tucker, Kelsey Grammer, and Mark Whalberg (just to name a few) and hosting her own Travel show.
